little black cat

I am literally dying of anticipation for the Jason Wu release tomorrow morning! I recruited my roommate (who is more sexy Brigitte Bardot than gamine Audrey Hepburn) to help me scrounge up as many of the following items as possible… I think what finally did me in was that little black cat with the red bow–cute beyond words! Are any of you waking up bright and early to face the inevitable mayhem at every Target? What do you hope to pick up?

While I never possessed any talent for Ballet (or any sort of dancing, for that matter) as a girl, I have always been enamored by tutus! Ever since I saw Carrie Bradshaw in the opening credits of Sex and the City I have made it my mission to track down the perfect tutu… and it has eluded me until now. While ideally I would also possess one in pink, a nude is just understated enough that I can wear it to my 9:30am Literature classes without raising too many eyebrows. Though I did insist on dressing it up with a gold oversized watch and some pearls, what else is new?

On another note, I finally received the packages (I adore receiving packages!) that I ordered for my boyfriend’s Anniversary presents. I can’t wait to show you guys what’s inside… I got him two actual presents and one certificate for something that we can do together. I always feel that the ultimate gift is giving someone an experience–preferably something they have never experienced before–instead of an object because it is a memory they can always look back on. Do you ladies find that to be true?

I have measured out my life in coffee spoons

Anyone recognize the title? I have been absolutely obsessed lately with T.S. Eliot’s poem “The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock” lately–even listening to it while I get ready in the morning! It’s probably because I am reacting to getting back into the swing of things at school, after such a relaxing winter holiday.

This is my outfit of the day! I went to English class this morning, then I decided the topic of my senior thesis–Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina–then had an exam in French, and now I’m off to the first meeting of the year for TREND Magazine! I am currently working on a collaboration that I am very excited about and can’t wait to tell you ladies!

Today my roommate, Christine, and I went to the Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego. I got two really cute rings from Charlotte Russe–can’t wait to show you!–and she found a really cute pencil skirt for work. They have the biggest Forever21 I have ever seen there–it is two stories tall and has atleast 7 different sections on each floor! They even have a beauty room, children’s section, and gift shop. Oddly enough, I didn’t find anything there that I liked. I am on the hunt for a really cute faux fur jacket, any suggestions of where to find one? I was thinking Nordstrom’s…

commitment-phobe

I have a confession to make. I am a complete, utter, incessant commitment-phobe. No, not with men. With perfume.

My guilt is scattered around the room, at the bottom of my clutches, in the car. I collect samples nearly every time I go shopping… but I still haven’t found the one. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that ever since I was a little girl, my mother and grandmothers would tell me that a woman ought to have a signature scent. I thought I found one–Juicy Couture–when I was 17, but love quickly turned to hate and I donated the bottle to my sister.

Another favorite–Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle–seemed promising, but the love affair died along with my relationship with the man who adored it. Lately, I’ve been toying around with Miss Dior Chérie, Hermés ‘Kelly’, and Burberry Brit Sheer… but none are quite right. Please tell me I am not alone in this, mes chéries

It’s times like these that I really wish I had a skilled photographer boyfriend. Or a better camera. As a college student living with five other girls, the best I can do is ask one of my room mates to snap some some quick shots on the way to class! I am curious, ladies… who takes your photos? And how long did it take you to invest in a nice Cannon/Nikon camera (if ever)? Any advice would be appreciated!
