the dead

When I was growing up, I always hated the color orange. I don’t know if it was because it reminded me of traffic cones or what– but that revulsion has slowly turned into infatuation, and I blame none other than Hermès. Thankfully, this alteration has come just at the right time- Pantone announced Tangerine Orange (or as I like to call it,  Hermès Orange) as the official color of 2012! And I plan on taking full advantage…

On a sidenote, I am a huge fan of James Joyce, particularly his work “The Dead” from Dubliners. I am about to embark upon reading “The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man for class and I hope it is as good. I think this quote from “The Dead” is brilliant. If there is one thing I have learned over the years, it is that life must be lived with passion and zest to be worthwhile. No more complacency.

One by one they were all becoming shades. Better pass boldly into that other world, in the full glory of some passion, than fade and wither dismally with age.

versatility

I suppose that today’s outfit of the day can serve as an example of versatility, as I have already shown it twice before (and now I will abstain for a while, I promise!) I wore it to class today, and for running general errands around campus– because it is my senior year I have to complete a thesis for my Honors Seminar in Literature and it seems as though the required book list is endless…. perhaps I would be a bit more inclined to pick them up if they had covers like these:
